Ragam, Tanam, Pallavi (RTP) is the highest form of improvisational music in Carnatic tradition, showcasing a musician’s creativity, depth of knowledge, and mastery over rhythm and melody. This structured form is performed in major concerts and is a vital aspect of advanced Carnatic music training.
In this course, students will gain an in-depth understanding of the three components—Ragam (melodic elaboration), Tanam (rhythmic improvisation), and Pallavi (composition and variations in different talas). Special focus will be given to manodharma (creative improvisation), intricate laya exercises, and different approaches to rendering RTP in a concert setting.
Live sessions will be conducted via Google Meet.
