Course Description

Abhangs are devotional songs sung in praise of Lord Vithoba (Vitthala), composed by saint-poets like Sant Tukaram, Sant Namdev, and Sant Eknath. These compositions are an integral part of the Bhakti movement in Maharashtra and are known for their deep spiritual essence and rhythmic beauty.

This course will introduce students to the rich tradition of Abhangs, focusing on their melodic structures, rhythmic patterns, and devotional meaning. Students will learn selected Abhangs, emphasizing voice modulation, pronunciation, and emotional depth in singing. This course is suitable for both beginners and advanced learners who wish to explore this unique form of Bhakti Sangeet.
